How odd that the singer who sang the song ‘Santa Baby’ dies on Christmas day!
Eartha Kitt died at the age of 81, after being treated for colon cancer, in NYC with her daughter by her side at the time of her death.
The late singer portrayed Catwoman on the 60s TV series ‘Batman’, and she was nominated for three Tony awards, two Grammy awards and two Emmys.
She was the queen of stage at first and then according to CNN , her Broadway stardom landed her a recording deal that led to a string of best-selling records, including “Love for Sale,” “I Want to Be Evil,” “Santa Baby” and “Folk Tales of the Tribes of Africa.” “She recorded more than 20 albums, worked in hundreds of television and movie roles, and was invited as a guest to the White House several times.”
She was considered to be an icon (stage, gay, style, …), and wrote three autobiographies.
May she rest in peace.
Here is one of her most beautiful songs, remixed, “Where is My Man.”
“Nothing is more sterile or lamentable than the man content to live within himself. Harold Pinter in ‘Tea Party’
The world lost another great man in literature.
The Nobel-winning, British/Jewish Playwright Harold Pinter died after a six-year bout of cancer, at the age of 78.
He was known for his great plays like The Birthday Party and The Caretaker, also for his hostility towards the US, esp. the Bush government. He won his Nobel prize for literature in 2005.
Obama and family are in Hawaii, his birth-place, for the holidays, and while there they hit the beach.
Obama showed off his muscled chest, pectorals, washboard stomach and abs. Before he resides in the White House he wants everyone knows that he is healthy and fit.
He is a strict gym-goer.
Michelle Obama was in a swimsuit while her bottom was shielded in a colorful wraparound.
The former American Idol Kellie Pickler is happy here since she is going to be in Iraq after several hours of flight (she must be there by now as she took off this morning) to support the US troops. She will have a surprise performance for them during this holiday season.
Of course, like any normal 22-year-old girl who might be scared to death going to a country like Iraq, she protected herself from the possible damages by going completely nude face.
Here she is all ready to go while talking to Obama and finding him flat and boring, posing with him made out of cardboard and showing some PEACE. Someone even did a Photoshop make-up on her face to show she would look uglier with make-up. I don’t care about that, I think she is being brave here.
“I was lucky to stump for Barack in Indiana and to introduce him in Chicago. Barack left me five [phone] numbers. It was the greatest voicemail that I’ve gotten in my life by the way… I saved it and I went back to listen to it and my BlackBerry had erased all of Barack Obama’s phone numbers. Then when I called back to try to tell them, ‘Can I get Barack’s number? He left it for me.’ They didn’t believe me and I now have nothing and I’ve been trying to find him.” The Golden Globe nominee Jeremy Piven told extra.
President-elect Barack Obama and soon-to-be First Lady Michelle Obama double dosed the cover of the January issue of Essence magazine.
The images, thoughts, dreams and perspectives of some of today’s foremost writers and photographers has been featured in a 56 pages.
From a young child Obama to the present;

In his latest socialist attempt, Sean Penn teams up with his BFFHugo Chavez and asks the Cuban president Raul Castro to meet with President-elect Barack Obama, encouraging a normalization of relations between the US and Cuba.
In his long essay posted on The Nation, he constantly refers to Chavez as “Mr.President” and tries to clear the image of him, described by Vice President-elect Joe Biden as “Venezuelan dictator”: “Hugo Chávez Frías is the democratically elected president of Venezuela (and by democratically elected I mean that he has repeatedly stood before the voters in internationally sanctioned elections and won large majorities, in a system that, despite flaws and irregularities, has allowed his opponents to defeat him and win office, both in a countrywide referendum last year and in regional elections in November). And Biden’s words were the kind of rhetoric that had recently led us into a life-losing and monetarily costly war, which, while toppling a shmuck in Iraq, had also toppled the most dynamic principles upon which the United States was founded, enhanced recruitment for Al Qaeda and deconstructed the US military.”
For the finishing lines of his article, he remembers the music and movies that flashed back in his head at the moment of Obama’s victory speech: “I sat on the edge of my bed with my wife, son and daughter, tears streaming down my face, as Barack Obama spoke for the first time as the president-elect of the United States of America. I closed my eyes and started to see a film in my head. I could hear the music too, appropriately the Dixie Chicks covering a Fleetwood Mac song over slow-motion images in montage. There they were: Bush, Hannity, Cheney, McCain, Limbaugh and Robertson. I saw them all. And the song was rising as the image of Sarah Palin took over the screen. Natalie Maines sweetly sang,
And I saw my reflection in the snow-covered hills
till the landslide brought me down.
Landslide brought me down… “
Cuban President said that any meeting with Obama have to be on “neutral ground.”
