I like Cate Blanchett; maybe not so much in her latest movie ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’, and that’s because I didn’t like the movie, but overall I think she is a great actress. She is the type who is so talented and professional that doesn’t knock her head on every tabloid that comes on her way, if only to promote her movies. She almost has never been spotted by the paps, and I don’t know what’s her secret is but whatever it is she is doing something right. She wants the world to only recognize her for her talent and not a bit of body or other on-the-side matters. Yet, she couldn’t get away from an interview with a magazine that seems to be obsessed with actresses’ body and Tina Fey and Kate Winslet were its two recent targets.
Cate, being feature in the latest issue of Vanity Fair magazine, had to answer to their questions of whether or not she is obsessed with her body image, which of course the answer is no, as Cate said: “I’m not a spokesperson against the world of injectables. If you grow up in an environment where your mother gets you a boob job when you turn 18, what hope is there? But I didn’t grow up in that world. The reason I went to train as an actor was that I was interested in it for the long haul. You can become very self-obsessed, but you’ve got to keep looking outward.”
For the rest of the interview, the Aussie actress reveals how her hubby Andrew Upton is not OK with her having any kinda surgery as she said: “I haven’t done anything, but who knows. Andrew [Upton] said he’d divorce me if I did anything. I’m not a trophy. He likes the vessel, but he also wants to make sure the vessel is full.”
Cate also talks about her body after having three kids, and whether or not she wants more kids.
I wonder if there is one magazine in the world that can for once and all, choose to go deep into the stars’ personality and wonder what their life philosophy is, or even why they choose their path. I guess the entertainment industry could have never break through the standards, as that’s what the society demands in its very core.

Always smiley and graceful actress Cate Blanchett received the 2,376th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame yesterday, and she didn’t have to pay cash for it. Well, she paid for it by just being herself and a good actress, deserving the title.
In these photos, as always she doesn’t try to be something that she is not while being photographed. Not a trace of consciousness to deliver a tabloid pose or showing off her every side of beautiful figure. And as her clothes, it’s so her: chic and classy.

The Academy Award-winning actress Cate Blanchett well shines these days. Her movie “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” with Harrison Ford was a major summer hit. Now she is back with a new movie “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” also starring Brad Pitt, opening on Christmas day. The movie premiered in LA last weekend and got very good reviews, and they are talking big Oscars buzzes.
One review says about her performance: “I think there is no argument against Cate Blanchett being nominated for Best Actress, and again, I think she takes this award in a cake walk. There is no actress in that category standing up and demanding this award like her work is here.”
So it’s natural that she covers Vogue January 2009 issue. She also recently appeared on Oprah Show and shared some intimate stuff. Like how she heats it up, and her secret to successful relationship which she says is spooning:
“Someone once said to me, and I think it’s quite true, that if your bodies actually fit together when you’re sleeping in bed — I’m not going to get into too much detail — you’re in good stead. When you can spoon with someone, then you’re OK. Because you might not vote the same way, you might not have the same politics, but sometimes that works for people.”
Stating the obvious but still anything from such a great actress and artist worth mentioning.
