Beyonce Wins What She Needs

Posted by: Roya In: Awards| Beyonce

beyonce-knowles-princ-12128-12 Beyonce Wins What She Needs awards

Finally the day we all secretively were waiting for comes and Beyonce gets what she has deserved: a metallic hand to go with her infamous metallic glove. She received her award at 2008 Los 40 Principales awards ceremony at the Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid, on Friday.
For the night she wears a very long black gown that apparently causes her a problem at the red carpet, as her stylist has to come to her rescue very critically. For the rest of the night I think she goes on cutting her dress short, taking some layers off and top it with some blazer of the same color.

The day after, she makes an appearance on Brit TV show “The X Factor,” and gives a live performance along with the contestant Alexandra Burke. The judges love the performance so much that they decide to reward the fellow contestant with $1.5 million recording contract.

P.S. When I first looked at her in these photos, I thought its her wax figure or some shit. I guess she was right when she said in one of her interviews that she has no emotion. The lack of which is written all over her face here, esp. the ones with the mini.

The Golden Globes Nominations

Posted by: Roya In: Awards

kate-winslet-reader-12118-6 The Golden Globes Nominations awards

It’s Hollywood’s pre-Oscar awards’ season, and the nominations for the Golden Globes awards have been announced this morning.
This list may straight go for Oscar nomination, since people in the academy are too busy to bother themselves with watching a couple of dozens movies, though they don’t give a shit about what the Hollywood Foreign Press Association thinks, they are just happy they have it summed up for them.
The movie ‘Milk’, and ‘The Dark Knight’ are missing in the best feature nominations which is just not good, they both have won a couple of critics awards so far.
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt both got nominations, and it seems like the list is mostly about superstars. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button should definitively be reconsidered for the Oscar. That’s all I can tell.

Theses are some the reactions so far [Via People]

“I am honored to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press in a category with so many extraordinary women. What an amazing experience, having the opportunity to work with Clint Eastwood on a film I care so deeply about.” Angelina Jolie

“I am pleased to be nominated for this award and would like to also congratulate David, Eric and Alexandre on their nominations. We’re all very proud of the film and thankful to the Hollywood Foreign Press for recognizing our work.” Brad Pitt

“Honestly, I had no clue that these things were today. I was in dead sleep. I heard voices on my answering machine. I thought ‘That’s weird, somebody is yelling in my answering machine at 5:30 in the morning.’ . . . It’s crazy! I called my mom and she’s screaming. My mom is excited because I’m going to take her as my date.” Kevin Connolly

“I am so honored to be nominated by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for Doubt along with John Patrick Shanley, Meryl Streep, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Viola Davis. Helping to bring John’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play to the screen was one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.” Amy Adams

“Dustin and I had the best time making this film. It seems insane to get an award nomination on top of that, but I’m thrilled.” Emma Thompson

“It is so exciting to be nominated, but working with Emma was reward enough. Don’t get me wrong, I still want to win!” Dustin Hoffman

“I am really thrilled! I guess I should dress up more. Maybe Chanel could do a couture line for seniors?” Shirley MacLaine

“I am absolutely thrilled and cannot be happier that The Wrestler has been given so much attention. It is such an honor for the HFPA to have recognized my work and Mickey’s in this beautiful film.” Marisa Tomei

“When I got a phone call early this morning, my heart dropped because I thought my nanny was calling in sick!!! I am so thrilled! It is a joy to go to work everyday and this is the icing on the cake. Congratulations to Sally [Field]!” Rachel Griffiths

barbara George Bush Kisses Barbra Streisand Awkwardly awards

Actor Morgan Freeman, country singer George Jones and singer and actress Barbra Streisand were among the group of people who received Kennedy Center Honors at Pennsylvania Avenue.

The awards recognize individuals who helped “define American culture through the performing arts.”

Obama supporter Barbara also received an awkward kiss from Bush, and she was polite enough to kiss back!
Meanwhile, she said it would have been “lovely” if she received the award while Obama was in office.

Queen Latifah, Beyonce, and Ne-YO, all paid their tribute to her, singing, and making an speech, as Ne-Yo said: “Barbra Streisand is the epitome of emotion in music. You feel every word, that’s something that artists in my day and age don’t really pay attention to.”

For those who wanted concrete proof that he’s drinking again…
Thanks levilarrington

Cristiano Ronaldo Wins The French Golden Ball

Posted by: Roya In: Awards

cristiano-ronaldo-dor-1278-3 Cristiano Ronaldo Wins The French Golden Ball awards
The Manchester United Cristiano Ronaldo received the Ballon d’Or award at a ceremony taking place in Paris today.

He had to hit 42 goals for this.
He told the press, “I never said that I was the best player in the world. I always said that I was well-placed to win the Ballon d’Or.”
Adding: “I have always had a lot of respect for the other players. It is not necessary to say who is the best player in the world, but who has an advantage, and I was carried along by this hope. All the players nominated had the possibility of winning this prize. Me, I have had this possibility and this privilege, but all the nominees had the qualities to win the award.”

The way he kisses the French golden ball…

Update: He’s only kissing that trophy because he saw his reflection in it.
Thanks 9jack9

Following the last year’s path when Brit singer Amy Winehouse was the major winner of Grammy Awards, British talents is dominating this year’s too.
The nominees were announced at last night’ ceremony with Cold Play putting forward for ‘Viva La Vida’, and achieving nominations in seven categories.
Duffy and Adele are up for Best New Artist, with Leona Lewis, MIA and Robert Plant with Alison Krauss all battling it out for the major honour at the February 8 ceremony in LA.
Among the US artist were rapper Lil Wayne leading with eight nominations, and nominated each for six, rappers Kanye West and Jay-Z, and R&B singer Ne-Yo.

Mariah Carey performed last night, and not so impressive. With her go-go boots and red dress she sang her Christmas song ‘Baby Please Come Home’.

Christina Aguilera gave a great performance by just singing and no crazy dances, catcopying Lady Gaga. Her hair still shines as Gaga’s.

Foo Fighters, John Mayer and Celine Dion also gave a good performances. The hosts for the night were Taylor Swift and LL Cool J.
